S2000 meet: North Wales (Apr 11)

Going to a club meet is always a joy, whether it’s big or small. Yesterday’s was one of the better ones I have been on. It was the first great sunny day of the year, 20 degrees Celsius and perfect top down weather.

The meet was attended by 3 other S2000 owners including a nice supercharged number (not that you’d know from the outside). We started off at the De Vere in St. Davids Park before threading through Buckley and down through Loggerheads (a nice pretty drive) towards Ruthin. The roads weren’t fast but still a great drive to get deeper into North Wales. The fun begins after Ruthin, powering our way towards Llyn Brenig visitor centre – our first stop. What a stop it is, great view and surroundings and a bonus of a tasty Exige in the car park.

From there we come down another side of the famous Evo triangle before shooting down the A5 to the Conwy Falls Cafe for some great food to refuel us for the turnaround journey. The food was great (I would recommend the steak flat bread or the breakfasts). From there it was down and then past Llyn Celyn and Corwen on our way to the Horse Shoe Pass. From there a quick stop in the layby by Ponderosa (better than the cafe itself as it’s so busy on sunny weekends) before heading home.

A great route, great weather and some annoying sunburn later (yes I know, suncream helps) and you have one of the best half a tank of fuel I’ve ever used. Thanks to Gav, Martin and Matt for the accompaniment, video and some shots!

Here’s a video from fellow S2000 driver Gav off his iPhone 4 – good considering a phone:

And here’s a (vague) map of the route including some Evo triangle, Conwy Falls Cafe and Ponderosa for those wondering where we went:
